When Should You Book Senior Photos? Why Late Summer Might Be My Favorite..
If yo u’re wondering when to book senior photos, late summer is one of my favorite times of year for senior sessions.
There’s something a little magical about those final dog days of summer. The evenings are warm, the light is beautiful, and the fields begin taking on those soft golden tones that make senior portraits feel warm, dreamy, and completely timeless.
And if I could choose one location for senior photos? Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan.
It gives us so much variety without having to leave the island.
We can start around the historic Casino grounds, wander through the beautiful Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, and explore the textures and movement of the Oudolf Garden. Then, as the sun begins to drop, we can head toward Sunset Point for those gorgeous skyline views of Detroit across the river. Belle Isle’s combination of gardens, architecture, open fields, water, and city views makes it possible to create an entire senior gallery that feels completely different from one location to the next.
Late summer also gives seniors a little breathing room before the rush of fall activities, school, sports, and everything that comes with senior year.
So if you’re a Class of 2027 senior (or a parent!), don’t wait until the leaves start changing to start thinking about your session. Late summer is beautiful, and your senior photos can be, too.
Ready to plan your Belle Isle senior session? Let’s make some magic.
