Sometimes the sweetest photographs happen when you aren’t really planning a photo session at all.

One of my best friends reached out because she wanted a few simple portraits of her kiddos while they created a special Father’s Day banner to hang in their kitchen. Nothing fancy. No big production. Just her kids being themselves, creating something with their little hands, and making something special for Dad.

And honestly? These are some of my favorite sessions to photograph.

I love lifestyle photography because it doesn’t always have to be about sitting down and smiling for the camera. Sometimes it’s about capturing your family exactly as they are — the way they play, create, laugh, concentrate, and love each other in their everyday lives.

Years from now, they may not remember every detail of making that Father’s Day banner. But these photographs will bring them right back to it.

There is something so incredibly sweet about preserving the things your children create, the traditions you make together, and the little pieces of everyday life that feel ordinary now but become priceless with time.

I can’t imagine a sweeter Father’s Day memory.
