There’s something special about finding a new corner of a familiar place, and this fall family photography session at Stony Creek Metropark in Shelby Township, Michigan was exactly that.

As a Macomb family photographer, I’m always happy to travel within reason for the right location, and Stony Creek Metropark offers so many beautiful pockets for photography sessions of all types. From wooded trails and open fields to water, architecture, and tucked-away spots like the historic Shelden Estate, there’s no shortage of variety for family photos.

For this session, we explored the grounds around the old Shelden Estate and embraced everything that makes fall family photography so much fun—beautiful colors, movement, laughter, and plenty of opportunities for genuine connection. Rather than keeping everyone in one spot, we wandered, played, interacted, and let the location become part of their story.

If you’re looking for a family photographer in Macomb County, Shelby Township, or the surrounding Michigan area, Stony Creek Metropark is a location I’d be happy to explore with you. With so many different settings throughout the park, we can create a family photography session that feels personal to your family and this season of your lives.
